The Race

Taking place on Saturday the 14th June, 2025, the Trail Marathon Wales and Trail Half Hanner powered by Salomon will have full (26 mile / 42km) and half (13mile / 21 km) marathon race routes in the stunning trails and tracks of the world-renowned Coed y Brenin forest in the Eryri National Park.

This unique event is now in it's 12th year and is what started it all at Run Coed y Brenin back in 2012. The event is considered as one of Wales’ finest forest trail marathon and half marathons taking in fully marked trail single track, forest roads and paths in some of the most stunning forestry and heathland in the UK.

The 2025 marathon race will have the traditional 9.00am start time, with the half marathon starting at 10.00am

Entries for the 2025 event open on July 9th 2024 and we expect the 1000 places to fill up fast. This will be a strict limit for the event, and we won’t be repeating any windows for entry – when they are gone, they are gone.

Please refer to our standard Terms and Conditions for normal deferral / refund policies.

NOTE: All runner items including race number, tee and sponsor goodies will be handed out at race registration on Friday and Saturday WE DO NOT POST these items out. For more information PLEASE REFER to the STMW Race Instructions

via THIS LINK

HYDRATION KIT NOTE: In 2024, in-line with our efforts to go ‘cupless’ we are asking all competitors to either carry water in re-fillable soft flasks / water bottles, or run with a cup that they can use at our feed stations. We will have a limited number of re-cyclable paper cups should runners loose / forget their containers / cup.

In 2024 we are super-excited to be once again part of the Golden Trail National Series for the UK, and this year the Trail Half Hanner powered by Salomon will host round 4 over 21km, bringing some of the UK's best trail runners to this classic race.

The Golden Trail National Series (a derivative of the Golden Trail World Series), aims to bring the strongest and most ambitious runners of off-road racing into a single national ‘super circuit’. Through its original formula, the Golden Trail National Series gives participants the opportunity to confront themselves at a ‘local’ level with many of the national and international athletes of trail running and skyrunnning, with the 10 strongest to be offered a place at the GTNS UK final for a chance to then be invited to participate in the Grand Finale

Continuing for 2025 you can also come and experience the atmosphere and the cheers of the crowds at our new Golden Trail Cheer Zones, a brand-new addition to our UK / NL events this year!

For spectators this will be your best chance at securing some exclusive Golden Trail goodies, such as caps and handbells, as you roar the runners up some of the most challenging sections of this year’s Series.

At the Trail Marathon Wales and Trail Half Hanner event the Cheers Zone will be based on the
infamous ‘Sting in the Tail’ section (at mile 11 in the full and half events) and we’re inviting spectators to make their way to this steep uphill section of the course to support the runners and bring this part of the forest alive!

We are also working closely with Natural Resources Wales at Coed y Brenin to deliver what will be a race weekend to remember once in again in 2025.

Being on a Saturday, we also hope that may runners and families will stay on for the weekend in one of the numerous local hostels, cabins, hotels and bed and breakfasts that surround Coed y Brenin.
