Taking place on Saturday the 17th June, 2023, the Salomon Trail Marathon Wales will have full (26 mile / 42km) and half (13mile / 21 km) marathon race routes in the stunning trails and tracks of the world-renowned Coed y Brenin forest in the Snowdonia National Park.

This unique marathon is now in it's 10th year and is what started it all at Run Coed y Brenin back in 2012. The race is considered as one of Wales’ finest forest trail marathons taking in fully marked trail single track, forest roads and paths in some of the most stunning forestry and heathland in the UK.

The 2023 marathon race will have the traditional 9.00am start time, with the half marathon starting at 10.00am.

In 2023 we are super-excited to be once again part of the Golden Trail National Series for the UK!

The Golden Trail National Series (a derivative of the Golden Trail World Series), aims to bring the strongest and most ambitious runners of off-road racing into a single national ‘super circuit’. Through its original formula, the Golden Trail National Series gives participants the opportunity to confront themselves at a ‘local’ level with many of the national and international athletes of trail running and skyrunnning, with the 10 strongest to be offered a place at the GTNS UK final for a chance to then be invited to participate in the Grand Finale

Please refer to our standard Terms and Conditions for normal deferral / refund policies.

Entries for the 2023 event open on September 3rd 2022 and we expect the 1100 places to fill up fast. This will be a strict limit for the event, and we won’t be repeating any windows for entry – when they are gone, they are gone.

Your entry fee includes:

  • Salomon Trail Marathon Wales high quality cotton tee

  • Salomon 500ml soft-flask worth £18

  • Commemorative STMW finishers wooden coaster

  • A fully marked and marshalled route

  • 6 well stocked feed stations (full) and 2 on the half

  • Electronic Chip Timing with post-race text results

  • Entry into our Salomon Trail Marathon Wales prize draw to win one of 10 spot prizes

Priced at £35 for the half marathon and £45 for the full marathon (plus online booking fee) we feel that the Salomon Trail Marathon Wales still represents one of the best value-for-money events on the race calendar

Note: Runners must be aged 17 or over on the race day for the half marathon and 18 years or over for the full marathon.

This year upon entry you will also get the opportunity to buy a race hoody, which will be picked up on race weekend and be able to make a donation to our charity partner South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team

We will also once again be hosting the TMW Welcome Party priced at £10 on the Friday evening (16th June) at the new Coed y Brenin visitor conference centre.

Starting at 6.00pm the aim is to simply offer the opportunity for runners and their partners, sponsors and some of the TMW team, the opportunity to meet and greet, enjoy some food, share stories, give you some insight into the event via athletes and organisation staff through a Q and A session, inspire you via some inspirational films and wish you the very best for the race – kick-starting your weekend at Coed y Brenin. All will be concluded by 8.00pm leaving you time to head to bed and get ready for the big day!

We are also working closely with Natural Resources Wales at Coed y Brenin to deliver what will be a race weekend to remember once in again in 2023.

Being on a Saturday, we also hope that may runners and families will stay on for the weekend in one of the numerous local hostels, cabins, hotels and bed and breakfasts that surround Coed y Brenin.
